And don’t forget about your windows. Cracks can let cold air in, and the warm air escape, making your home less energy efficient.

If you’ve got a deck, you’ll also want to do a little maintenance on it, to help prevent decay, splintering, and cracks. All the freezing and melting of snow and ice can make little problems worse, creating more work in the spring to repair the damage.
