CAMH One Brave Night for Mental Health is back and more exciting than ever! This year, CAMH Foundation is challenging Canadians to showcase their hidden talents to raise funds for people living with mental illness. How? It’s easy! Personalize a CAMH #OneBraveNight fundraising page and ask family, friends, colleagues to pledge their support for your campaign. Sing onstage, try stand-up comedy or show off your dance moves – whatever your hidden talent, tell everyone you’re doing it for CAMH and get ready to step into the #OneBraveNight spotlight on Friday, May 10. Perform. Share. Fundraise.
With one in five Canadians experiencing a mental illness or addiction in any given year, it’s fair to say that everyone knows someone who has struggled. It’s the leading cause of disability in Canada, costing billions in lost productivity and even more in lost potential. The crisis is real. But there is hope. Most people who receive appropriate treatment and support do recover.
By fundraising through CAMH One Brave Night, participants will help fuel the life-changing research happening at CAMH. And, by bravely expressing their creativity in support of mental health, participants will help create hope for a world where Mental Health is Health.
“At CAMH, we’re fortunate to have such a vibrant and dynamic community supporting better mental health for all,” says Deborah Gillis, CAMH Foundation President and CEO. “CAMH One Brave Night gives our community a unique opportunity to share their talents and gifts with the world, while raising funds and awareness for this important cause.”
CAMH One Brave Night for Mental Health is an engaging way for communities and workplaces to come together, to bravely express their creativity – and most importantly, to help more people get the support and treatment they need.
How to start: Go to onebravenight.ca and register a team. Then, take to social media and call out friends with hidden talents. Invite them to join the team and step into the spotlight.
Teams and participants are encouraged to offer behind-the-scenes updates using the #OneBraveNight hashtag leading up to and on the grand finale on May 10, when participants take centre stage to showcase their hidden talents, from the stage of their choosing. Need a little encouragement? A CAMH One Brave Night coach and creative mentors from the community will offer support and guidance.
