I’m 28 weeks pregnant and I’m not gonna lie — I have enjoyed my share of Big Macs® and other treats from McDonalds® during my time with child 🙂 But on May 2nd, 2012 you can guarantee I will be enjoying another one and most likely bringing my family in to enjoy as well. I have, since I was in my teens, participated by visiting my local McDonalds® restaurant on McHappy Day to enjoy a delicious Big Mac®. It’s actually a very nice feeling — the restaurants are all decorated and full of cheer, and as I remember in 2011 it was sunny and bright out and a bunch of us from the office walked down to the location on Front St. (Toronto) to grab lunch that day — I remember because the manager was super cheerful and very hands on in making sure everyone received their food in a timely manner. The point is, you could tell that all involved were there because they wanted to support their local charities and all the great things Ronald McDonald Houses do for families.

The details are the same as any other event; The McHappy Day Celebration is an annual fundraising event where $1 from every Big Mac® sandwich, Happy Meal® and hot McCafé® beverage* sold will go to local children’s charities such as Ronald McDonald Houses. All you have to do is show up hungry 😉

This year though, you have the chance to increase your contribution by becoming a Blogger for a Cause – this program is geared to help increase awareness and for your participation you can opt to have your blog post compensation be in the form of a donation made in your name to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. SO AWESOME!

As a mom of 3 (soon to be 4) I can’t imagine what parents of seriously ill children would do when travelling out of town on an ongoing basis to visit their ailing child. And as each Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for out-of-town families — this day does wonders for those in need of the services. I wasn’t aware of this but some of the Ronald McDonald Houses also operate a Ronald McDonald Family Room within the walls of partnering hospitals.
