Have you heard, April 22nd is Earth Day? Earth Day is a nation-wide event to make people aware of our important our planet is and how we can keep it amazing!

Did you know that every year, Toronto produces around 1,000,000 tonnes of waste? Even worse – half of it ends up in a landfill! It may seem like a horrifyingly large number, but the good thing is, anyone can be part of the change! Start small – recycle when you can and start a little compost bin in your home. Instead of throwing out any old furniture that you’ve replaced, donate it!

In 2015, the Toronto Furniture Bank diverted five million pounds of furniture from heading to the landfill, and redestribute it to families who need it? Think how many homes five million pounds can furnish?

Join us on Earth Day 2016, the Furniture Bank, Toronto Environmental Alliance, and celebrity city Councillor Norm Kelly will gather in Nathan Phillips Square to collect any home furnishings or housewares you may have!

Help our city reduce the waste we throw away by coming by Nathan Phillips square on Earth Day, Friday April 22, with your unwanted housewares and keep them out of the landfill.

I would love for you to come out to our Earth Day housewares drive tomorrow at Nathan Phillips Square!. All housewares collected will be redistributed to our clients including Syrian refugees. Here’s details: http://www.furniturebank.org/earthday2016  Hope to see you out!
