Julia We really do love our  ShesConneced brand ambassadors, and today we wanted to introduce you to our fabulous ambassador from Quebec : Julia aka  Nugglemama :

Tell Us about YOU! Your family, where you live, etc.

My name is Julia. I am a happily married Mama to 5 great kids ages 11-4 years old. We live in Quebec where I am brushing up on my French skills (boy am I glad I had junior high french) and exploring all the natural beauty of Quebec. I am a photographer in my free time, which means my camera pretty much lives on me so I can snap things in between chasing kids. I love a good book and love getting creative with fabric to make clothes, bags or quilts.

How long have you been blogging? When and Why did you start?

I have been blogging almost 6 years starting off with a craft blog where I showed off all the things I sewed and made with the kids help. I started a second blog to keep in touch with family 4 years ago and found that it was a great place to share all sorts of things so the crafting blog got neglected.

What role does blogging play in your life; fun, extra income, main source of income, journaling, memories, etc.

These days blogging is still a way for me to share things with family far away, but it has morphed into a place where I can share my thoughts about products and promotions as well as bringing in a little extra income for help pad the family income.
What role has social media played in your life?
Social media has saved my sanity while living in Quebec. Being a stay at home Mom I don’t get out a lot and when I do run into many difficulties. Being able to find people who share interests online has meant I still get that grown up conversation time I so desperately need after playing with kids all day.

Tell us about your “Brand”.

This is a hard one. I still don’t know what my “brand” is. Maybe it’s honest reviews from a mom who has been there tried that? I think my brand has evolved and changed over time depending on what stage I am with my family. Right now my brand includes creative photography, reviews, recipes, and events. I am hoping it continues to evolve as I do.

How many SCCTO  have you attended? Was the conference what you expected it to be? Why?

I attended the first SCCTO. It was my first conference as a blogger and very close to what I expected. I was happy to see that in the second year there was more time for connecting with the bloggers and brands because really that’s what it’s all about. Learning is key too, but connections are something that can enhance not only your blog but your online life long after the conference is done.

What was your favourite part of the conference? What was your favourite booth and why?
I really enjoyed listening to Joanne Thomas Yaccato speak on the differences between advertising to women and men and seeing examples of when it works and when it doesn’t. The Best part was having the chance to get to know some of my favourite bloggers better.

What was your most memorable moment from SCCTO?

Most memorable moment was leaving the conference and Diana (@TeacherMomOfTwo driving like a race car driver through down town Toronto Rush Hour traffic to get me to my flight. I ended up arriving just as they were boarding. Whew.

Did you continue your relationship on social media with other attendees? Brands?

That previous story speaks of a connection made at the conference that has continued long after the conference was done. Same with the ladies I was lucky enough to bunk with the night before. They are women I don’t just consider friends online, but also in real life.

Why are you proud to be this year’s SCCTO Brand Ambassador? What are you looking forward to this year?

As a blogger who works primarily with brands I am proud to be part of a conference that fosters those relationships. Getting to talk to the faces behind the brand is so important for giving the blogger and brand a better feel of who is “behind the curtain” so to speak. I am really looking forward to the breakout sessions this year. There is such a great variety of topics and streams that every type of blogger will find something new to learn. Also I hear Shoesconnected is coming back!? Is that true? I am a confirmed shoeaholic so this is something I am really looking forward to.
