McHappy Day

My precious angel was born in 2004 with the fight of her life a head of her. Her official name at birth was Twin B (her twin brother passed away at birth). She was born prematurely  at around 5lbs. She was placed into our care at only 2 days old. She was suffering from seizures on a daily basis and I mean multiple seizures on a daily basis. She did not gain any weight for over a month as all her the calories were being burnt off very quickly with her seizures.

She was only 8 days old and admitted to Children’s Hospital in London, Ontario. We brought her to the hospital to be assessed due to her shaking all the time. Which of course turned out to be seizures. While in triage she suffered a seizure and she was rushed away while we were pushed out of the room so that all the doctors and nurses could figure out why our little girl was having seizures.

She remained in the hospital for weeks while they tried different medications to get her seizures under control. While in the hospital my precious daughter was diagnosed with FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) and failure to thrive. This precious little girl was going to have a long road ahead of her. Along the road we have been back and forth to Children’s Hospital for her Paediatric Nurologist, Paediatric Gastrologist and different developmental appointments along the way. We have received nothing but compassion and love from everyone we have come in contact with there.

To our family it is nothing short of a miracle at how far our daughter has come and everything she has accomplished in her life. And I have to thank Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald Charities for all they do for children.
