On Saturday April 28th, Humewood House will be holding their Centennial Celebration.  This year marks 100 years of helping and empowering Toronto’s teen single moms to give birth to healthy babies and to feel comfortable with their new role as mothers.

Humewood House will celebrate the evening at the historic Wychwood TTC Street Car Barns on Christie St. with an array of delicious hors d’oeuvres and food stations; an exciting silent auction, a dance performance by Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, and for wannabe Oenophiles, a wonderful wine tasting all accompanied by music by the Brian Rose band.  It will be an evening of fun and excitement as well as community enrichment.

Over the years the adolescent pregnancy rates have declined, however, teens still face social, economic, educational and employment barriers during this time. With its highly dedicated and caring staff, Humewood House delivers pre and post natal care, life skills, and childcare as well as high school programs and counseling to empower these young, pregnant and parenting women to make positive life choices for themselves and their children.

The 100 stories campaign, in conjunction with the celebration also supports the next generation of teen mothers in need, whether by sharing your story; creating a tapestry that will be a legacy to Humewood House, or by giving 100 minutes of your time, donating 100 pieces of baby clothing, or by contributing 100 cents, 100 dollars or more, to their goal of raising $100,000 for Humewood House.

Hope you will join us for this great event and support Humewood House!
